Where to Find the Adamantine Forge in BG3
The Adamantine Forge is hidden deep within the Underdark. Head west to the Underdark Beach waypoint. If you’ve explored the Underdark, you may have already completed quests in this area. Otherwise, there will be Duergar to deal with first.
Check out our full Act One walkthrough for a step-by-step guide to get to Grymforge, including more Underdark quests to complete first!
You’ll find boats docked at the beach. Take the Underdark Duergar Boat to cross the lake.
Corsair Greymon will stop and question you during a cutscene. You will have an opportunity to succeed on an ability check to respond.
After dealing with Corsair, the cutscene will continue as you arrive at Grymforge.
Make your way up the stairs from your docking location.
Head south past the waypoint and up the next sets of stairs until you reach an archway to an open area with several Duergar walking around.

The Adamantine Forge is located further southeast, but the direct paths are either blocked or hazardous. One option is to jump and climb up rubble on the left located just before you enter the archway.
Walk up the incline where you’ll find two levers.
Look to the left of the levers in a southeast direction for a giant metal gear across a wide gap. Jump to that ledge in order to access the next section.
TIP: If you have a character who can fly or use Misty Step, then it will be easier to reach across wider gaps to your destination. You also won’t take fall damage!
Now you’ve made it into the next section of Grymforge. Head further in and proceed down the stairs. You will unlock the Ancient Forge waypoint and find more stairs headed south.
Follow the stairs down and jump across the gap to get to the Adamantine Forge.

Required Items for Adamantine Forge
Two items are required to use the Adamantine Forge:
- a weapon or armour Mould
- Mithral Ore
You can find both of these items in Grymforge.
Where to Find Weapon and Armour Moulds
Moulds can be used to shape a unique piece of equipment. You can find Moulds for the Adamantine Forge scattered throughout locations in Grymforge. Keep your eyes peeled as you explore and loot all of the areas of the map. Below are a few places to find Moulds.
One of the locations of a Mould is at the levers where you climbed the rubble incline on your way to the Ancient Forge. Loot the Skeleton corpse to find a Scimitar Mould.
From the levers, jump across the wide gap to find another Mould location on the ground, the Splint Mould.
As you continue on your way to the Adamantine Forge, you can pick up a Mace Mould from a table southwest of the Ancient Forge waypoint.
You can pick up all of those Moulds without facing enemies, but there’s one more Mould in this area! Though if you want to pick up a Scale Mail Mould, you’ll have to initiate combat.

Where to Find Mithral Ores
You can find Mithral Ores in two locations in Grymforge. Both locations are in areas that involve combat.
One location is southwest of the Ancient Forge waypoint in a lower section right on the lava. You will need to defeat multiple Animated Armour to get to this area.
When you are in the clear, head down the rocky slope to the lava banks. You’ll see a Mithral Vein across the way.
Jump over the lava and attack the vein with Force damage to break it and harvest Mithral Ore.
Another location is southeast of the Ancient Forge waypoint in a section with bookshelves. Though this area appears to be clear of enemies, you will need to be prepared to fight.

After the area is cleared of enemies, attack the Mithral Vein with Force damage to harvest Mithral Ore.
How to Craft Weapons and Armor with the Adamantine Forge
Curious about what you can craft at the Adamantine Forge? Check out our pages on Adamantine Weapons and Adamantine Armour to learn more!
To craft a weapon or armor with the Adamantine Forge, select the Mould Chamber to open it. Choose a Mould from your inventory to place in the chamber.
NOTE: Keep in mind that you only have enough ore to craft at most two items, so choose carefully! If you end up changing your mind about the Mould, select the eject lever to the right of the chamber to release your current Mould selection and replace it with the one you want.
Next, select the Crucible and insert a Mithral Ore from your inventory. Now both items are all set and the forging process is ready.

Head south on the platform to activate the Forge Lever. This will bring down the hammer and lower the platform.
Finally, walk northeast across the platform toward the green light and activate the Lava Valve.
To retrieve your newly forged item, select the Forge Lever again.
If you are crafting with the Adamantine Forge for the first time, then you will trigger a cutscene Tap to Reveal. Check out The Adamantine Forge walkthrough for details on how to defeat this combat!
