Watcher bavarian kid informed us about the new major english mod release New Horizons v.150427 ENG for Eador: Genesis - thank you!
In the release-thread you can read the impressive change-log and find some download links, too.
Here's a brief overview of all the features and improvements that have been created and implemented since its very first steps over 2 years ago:
- Unit promotions (all castle units, except for the T4 units have a chance to be upgraded to stronger and better ones, all the promotions are within one tier only)
- Tactical improvements, since there are a lot of new abilities, spells and units the AI will surprise you with new combinations of challenging enemies.
- All mercenaries are now T1.5 units (T1 promotions), so you have a choice to either buy a powerful and costly unit or an army of weaker ones.
- Balance changes to hero skills and hero class.
- 150+ new units (including castle units, all kinds of monsters and powerful bosses)
- 200+ new spells (including all kinds of blessings and curses, damaging spells, AoE spells and even instant kill spells if you are lucky enough to find them)
- 250+ new items (including weapons, armor, jewellery and artefacts to summon powerful monsters and contracts to hire new units)
- 20+ new item sets (giving all kinds of cool bonuses if you are able to obtain them )
- Various new races plus expanded and improved existing ones (no more Goblins and Orcs together, all of them have their own melee, spellcasting and ranged units)
- Various new buildings (including epic tier shops and a casino) and new rituals.
- Several hundred new encounters and events
- Hundreds of new images, graphics, sounds and visual improvements, including the models for all the hero subclasses.
- New music pack from the composer of the original Eador.
- Nearly a hundred new neutral armies, suited for different playing styles.
- Nearly every alliance quest reworked for consistency.
- Countless new combat abilities for units old and new.
- Numerous improvements to game balance.
- Huge amount of improvements to game lore and universe logic.
- Campaign balance and flow much improved.
More information.

It is one of the greatest mods I have ever played. I enjoy it more then WOG for HoMM3 and Fall from Heaven for Civ4. Beware though it will suck your time away if you love strategy and RPG's combined.

I concur. I played (extensively) the previous version of the mod, and it was a work of art. I am biased, of course, I think that Eador is one of the best TBS games ever created. Unfortunately it got so little recognition. I don't have time to get it now, but in mid summer I will and will once again spend countless hours in the Eador universe.
BTW, I know I said it before, but the Eador campaign is more of an "RPG" than most well know RPG-lite...

Wow, you guys are making this sound very, very good!
I haven't played Eador: Genesis yet, but I was very interested in the game due to its gorgeous graphical style and strategy elements. I will have to give it a spin sometime, just haven't found the time yet.
Lots of RPG elements and stuff?

Lighter on RPG elements than FE, but an absolute gem of a strategy game.

If you have the time to follow and complete the campaign (admittedly it can take several hundreds hours to do so), pay attention to the story behind it (for RPG fans). I found it much better than most 'real' RPGs, including recent big ones like D:OS and PoE. And I absolutely love D:OS.....

Thanks for posting news about incline games Hidden X.
Eador is criminally underrated. Fabulous music too.
Avoid the 3D version at all costs, it still has countless embarrassing bugs.

So to confirm, this is for Eador:Genesis, the older version of Eador. Not for Eador: Master of the Broken World?
I may have to see if I can dig up my old Genesis file.

I'm sorry but it is universal agreement that the original version is much better. It's all the most surprising that it was created by one guy.

I adore the MoTBW version. Of course I know this version was plagued by show-stopping bugs (especially immediately after release); but the developers have continued to support the game, and crashes and other nastiness have been nearly eliminated, and continuous improvements added.
Truly one of the best games I have ever owned.

You can play Hotseat I know that . Yes this is for Eador Genesis. I agree with Humanity, Genesis is just a much better game then MotBW. I could not get into the second one but will have to give it a try again after the last patch.
BTW it is a very hard game at the higher levels and there are a few random maps that I just get blown away playing at expert. At the expert level I win about 50% of the time and I love that.

Sure. I have both...the new one isn't buggy as you are making it out...even if you bring out that logic statement that you can't back up. Hell, it isn't even the same statement from before.
That one guy is lead designer on the 3d version.
Now, if you lived in a bomb shelter and hadn't seen the improvements on the new one since release then I would agree. But, otherwise no.
